Under the EU CO2 standards, all new cars and vans must have zero CO2 emissions from 2035. Denmark aims for all new passenger car sales to be electric by 2030 and 100% zero-emission by 2035.

Charging Infrastructure Policies
Under the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) Member States are required to ensure a minimum total power output is provided through publicly accessible recharging stations and that fast-charging pools are installed along major European traffic corridors. Housing associations in Denmark can apply to receive funding from a DKK 92.5 million fund to install charging points between 2023-2025. Grants will cover up to 25% of the installation project.

Vehicle Incentives
Denmark offers subsidies of ~$7,000 for new EVs with a purchase price below ~$46,000. Reduced registration taxes for low- and zero- emission cars are available with rates increasing gradually from 2026-2035. PHEVs receive between 35-50% discount while BEVs receive a 60% discount.
