COP29 Resources

The following resources have been collected by the organizers of the “Implementing zero-emission road transport through policy and finance” event at COP29 on November 21, 2024.

COP29 Progress Update
Accelerating to Zero Coalition

At COP28, Breakthrough Agenda governments called on leading initiatives to continue working toward setting common and coordinated zero-emission vehicle transition targets and to send a global collective market signal in support of a Paris Agreement-aligned future. They nominated the Accelerating to Zero Coalition to coordinate across the initiatives and to review and communicate progress at COP29.

Global ZEV Transition Roadmap
ZEV Transition Council

The Roadmap presents the collective actions the ZEVTC intends to undertake with wider international partners to accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs). The 2024 update provides progress-to-date among EMDEs and outlines strategic plans to continue this strong momentum by implementing Roadmap activities via its newly launched international delivery framework.

Global Green Road Corridors: Enabling Factors for Successful Launch, Development, and Scale
CALSTART/Drive to Zero

Road corridors provide the connections that make the transport system work, and ZE-MHDV technology is now able to serve these highest impact segments and turn the world’s corridors green. This white paper outlines a comprehensive list of foundational conditions and key enabling factors essential for the successful development of green road corridors, providing a practical roadmap for implementation. It highlights best practices and features real-world examples of corridors currently under development globally.

Zero-Emission Vehicle Emerging Markets Initiative: Public-private collaboration models & best practices
WBCSD

Despite progress in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) adoption, challenges persist. Variations in technology maturity, regional regulations and diverse market demands hinder a swift global transition. These complexities create investment uncertainties and widen the gap between intended global targets and the actual pace of ZEV deployment. This publication is a blueprint for replicating successful public-private actions across other emerging markets, with investment examples from companies pioneering change and shaping a sustainable future in transportation.
