ZEV Related Policies
Under the EU CO2 standards, all new cars and vans must have zero CO2 emissions from 2035. Cyprus aims for 25% of new vehicle registrations to be electric by 2030 and 100% by 2035.

Charging Infrastructure Policies
Under the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) Member States are required to ensure a minimum total power output is provided through publicly accessible recharging stations and that fast-charging pools are installed along major European traffic corridors. The government has committed €3.7 million to the construction of 1,000 public charging stations. Both AC and DC charging stations will be funded. AC chargers receive a subsidy of €1,100 for 3.7kW chargers and €2,000 for 22kW. DC chargers are funded at a rate of €7,000 for 50-150kW and €20,000 for 150+kW.

Vehicle Incentives
Phase two of Cyprus’s EV purchase scheme has a budget of €10 million to accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles. Zero-emission and plug-in hybrid cars with CO2 emissions up to 50g/km are eligible for €10,000 and €7,500 respectively. To qualify, vehicles must have an MSRP below €80,000.
