ZEV Related Policies
The ACT Government’s Zero-Emission Transition Plan aims to achieve 80-90% of new light vehicle sales being ZEVs in 2030 with a complete phase-out of light ICE vehicles from 2035.
Charging Infrastructure Policies
The Zero-Emission Transition Plan targets delivering more than 70 publicly accessible EV charging stations across Canberra in 2022-2023 with the network expanding to at least 180 by 2025. In July 2023, the government introduced a subsidy of $2,000 for installing EV charging at multi-unit buildings.
Vehicle Incentives
Starting in 2021, the ACT provides two years of free registration for BEVs and FCEVs, stamp duty exemption for new ZEVs, and introduced zero-interest loans for ZEVs and charging installation capped at $77,565.
